Catamaran Divers

Catamaran Divers at Wikkid Resort is a full service PADI "Five Star" dive center offering diving adventures for our certified divers, beginner courses for those seeking certification, and continuing education courses for divers looking to further their scuba diving training.

One thing that sets us apart from other dive shops on the island are our two luxurious 50 foot Voyage sailing catamarans we use as our dive boats.  Note in the photo above our new extended transom on "Infinity" -- more room for divers to get ready for their dives.  We are all about providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience on your dive trips with us!

WHY DIVE FROM A CATAMARAN? ... WHY NOT !!!

Having dived for years from dive boats and catamarans, we have found that catamarans are by far and away the most enjoyable diving platforms we have ever experienced.  A list of some of the advantages is as follows:

  • Catamarans are very stable making for a smoother ride than on dive boats.
  • There is room for the guests to move about to the bow, cockpit, and salon.
  • The inside salon and cockpit dining area provide all day protection from the sun.
  • Want some sun?  Lounge on our trampolines on the bow of the yacht.
  • Multiple restrooms and dressing rooms are available on board.
  • To enter the water, do a giant stride from the transom or from the "sugar scoops" at sea level.
  • Getting back on board is extremely easy using the two sugar scoop ladders.
  • No need to return to our dive shop for surface intervals.  Snacks and drinks are served on board.
  • Shower heads are available on the sugar scoops to rinse off after dives.
  • All day trips are available to Port Royal and the east end of Roatan.
  • On all day trips, hot meals are served out of our full service galley.
  • After we are done diving for the day, open bar on the return trip.  It's party time!
  • Multi-day trips to Cayos Cochinos, Guanaja, and Utila.
  • New !!!  Extended width transom for divers to get ready for their dives.

NOTE:  We require a minimum of four divers to conduct a catamaran dive trip; otherwise we revert to the use of our standard dive boat.  Catamaran dive trips are also subject to catamaran availability and weather.

DIVING THE ROATAN SOUTH SIDE

First and foremost, diving on the south side of Roatan is pretty wikkid (awesome!).  It is chock full of amazing dive sites with much smaller crowds of divers and less human interference than many places elsewhere on the island.  Within a mile of our Wikkid Resort there are more than a dozen named sites varying in topography from shallow banks with wide canyons, to vertical walls, to the coral growth fields of the "concrete blocks" at the entrance of Dixon Cove.

Roatan’s most famous site, Mary's Place, consistently makes world lists as a "must dive” site.  Here we find amazing deep water sea mounts for the more experienced divers, and impressive vertical crevices formed by ancient volcanic activity that all skill levels can enjoy.  Mary's Place is just a short ten minute boat ride away.

We have another group of sites just to the west which includes the famous Cordelia Banks.  These banks are a bit off shore, packed with sea life, and has the highest live coral cover in the Caribbean dominated by Staghorn Coral.  Most dives here are not very deep, but the amazement is in the shallows -- the sea life, the coral, the canyons.   There is so much to see in this expansive area!

They say that variety is the spice of life.  If you want something different (and awesome) on pretty much every dive, join us on the south shoreline of the island away from the maddening crowds!
